John Martin

Brother Martin started work as a helper in 1949 and became a member of Local 80 in 1951. He worked as an Improver until 1953 when he was inducted into the United States Air Force and served four years.

He was elected to a second Agent of Local 80 in 1968, served for two years and was elected to a second term. In 1971 John resigned and formed NITRO Industrial Coverings Inc. and is presently President Chairman of the Board of Choice Insulation, Inc.

John's contributions to the Asbestos Workers Trade are numerous. Introduced under his leadership were Local 80's Apprenticeship Program, Dues check off, Local 80 Golf Tournament, and Construction Maintenance. John serves as Trustee on the National Asbestos Workers Medical and Pension Funds and he is Chairman of the Joint Apprenticeship Committee.
